In automotive, almost every area has its own goals, its own system, and its own team. Marketing measures reach. Sales measures sales. Aftersales measures services. Each makes sense on its own.
The customer, however, doesn't see these divisions. They see an ad, start a conversation, book a test-drive, negotiate, buy, and come back for scheduled service. For them, it's one continuous story with the same brand.
Where the journey breaks down
Problems tend to show up in the handoffs from one stage to the next:
- the lead generated by the campaign reaches customer service without context;
- the customer repeats the same information in every new conversation;
- the sale closes, but its history doesn't inform aftersales;
- marketing doesn't know which campaigns turned into business.
Connecting the handoffs
Technology helps less when it's installed for a single area and more when it connects the handoffs between them. Customer service that receives the campaign's context. Scheduling that logs straight into the system. Aftersales that uses the purchase history to know when to reach out to the customer again.
This journey view is what guides what we build: communication up front and intelligence throughout the operation. See a real example in Autifex cases.
